Sunday Morning Worship

Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in the sanctuary for worship, singing, scripture and preaching. Fellowship and Sunday School classes for all ages follow the morning service.

  • Our driveway is off of Church St. in Elmira.
  • Near the church entrance there are designated parking spots for seniors.
  • There is plenty of parking beside and behind the church.
  • An usher will greet you and provide assistance if you need a wheelchair or an elevator.
  • To the right is a ramp where greeters will welcome you to Elmira Mennonite Church. Greeters can also answer any of your questions or provide you with directions.
  • At the top of the ramp are coat racks and the sanctuary, where we worship.
  • At the entrance to the sanctuary, if you would like, an usher will give you a bulletin with all of the details about the service and help you find a seat.
  • An accessible washroom is at the top of the ramp. Other washrooms are in the basement. In the basement, the washrooms are to the right of the main door.
  • The worship service usually begins with a musical prelude or some congregational singing.
  • We read a call to worship in the bulletin, pray, light a candle to remind us of Christ's presence, read scripture, sing, have a story for children, share our joys and concerns from the week, and hear a sermon based in the scripture that is read.
  • The music changes each week. Sometimes we have a worship band, piano music, a cappella singing, quartets, an accordion, violins, trumpets. The Kids Praise group sings regularly.
  • Most people exit the sanctuary at the back where the morning's speaker is available to greet people.
  • Then most people continue down the ramp and into the basement where, from September through May, there are refreshments and a time of fellowship.
  • After the refreshments, many people stay for the education hour.
  • There are classes for ages 2 through adult.
  • An usher, or any member, can help you find the right classroom for your child.
  • Our programs, staff and volunteers operate under the guidelines of Elmira Mennonite Church's Safe Church Policy.
